Dodge Ram Truck's 'God Made a Farmer' ad a spinoff of YouTube video

The Dodge Ram "God Made a Farmer" TV ad plucked on the heartstrings of many during Sunday's Super Bowl, but it took it's cue from a YouTube video from Farms.com, reports Slate.com.

The commercial features a variety of stills photos featuring farms and farmers while longtime conservative radio broadcaster Paul Harvey gives his "So God Made a Farmer" speech.

Harvey, who died in 2009, originally gave the speech at a Future Farmers of America convention in 1978.

The original video was uploaded in June 2011 on the Farms.com YouTube page, and is a lower-quality version of the ad that played during Super Bowl XLVII.

Chrysler, the parent company of Dodge, announced in a release that the commercial kicks off a year-long initiative, along with the Farms.com and other brands, "highlighting and underscoring the importance of farmers" while raising money for the National FFA Organization.
