On May 20, 2014, independent film company Cinedigm announced the launch of Docurama, a digital video-on-demand (VOD) channel devoted exclusively to documentaries. According to Cinedigm, Docurama will be available on over 165 million consumer devices, including connected TVs (Samsung, Sony, RCA, Humax), set-top boxes (Amazon Fire, Roku, Tivo Roamio, Western Digital TV), tablets (Samsung) and gaming consoles (Xbox). The movies on Docurama will be available at no additional cost to subscribers of these VOD providers.

Docurama is a free, ad-supported, on-demand streaming channel that provides audiences with award winning and critically acclaimed documentary content across a variety of genres, including:
• Sports (“Carmelo’s Way,” “Faster and Faster,” etc.)
• Environment (“Gasland,” “Save the Farm,” etc.)
• War, History & Current Events (“My Trip to Al-Qaeda,” “Sir! No Sir!,” etc.)
• Pop Culture (“Woody Allen: A Documentary Part 1 & 2,” “The Swell Season,” etc.)
• Arts & Music (“Sing Your Song: Harry Belafonte,” “Tupac Uncensored & Uncut,” etc.)
• Human Interest (“Hot Coffee,” “Knuckle Ball,” etc.)
• Travel & Leisure (“Crazy Horse,” “Hungry for Change,” etc.)
The channel features many Academy-Award nominees and includes work from renowned filmmakers such as Alex Gibney, Fred Wiseman, Stacy Peralta, Liz Garbus and Joe Berlinger.
By mid-summer, Docurama will present over 1,000 titles, with fresh content programmed weekly, including seasonal themes and holiday titles. The channel will share behind-the-scenes interviews with important influencers in the documentary filmmaking community, including filmmakers, documentary subjects and festival programmers. Additionally, Docurama will present curated film festival coverage, short-form and early pre-release sneak peeks and clips for upcoming films to be programmed in the coming months.
