Documentary about Charles Mingus needs your help!

Jazz fans of Denver - we need your help!  Charles Mingus' grandson, Kevin Ellington Mingus, is trying to raise funds for a documentary about his journey through the lore and legends of jazz history to find his grandfather, Charles Mingus.

Mingus on Mingus is a documentary put together by his grandson, Kevin Ellington Mingus (KEM).  KEM was very young when his grandfather passed away, so he was unknown to him.

According to the website:  "The documentary interweaves narration, interviews and music to form a cohesive vision. The narration is guided by the introspection of the director sharing his thoughts and feelings while he lives the process of approach to his grandfather’s family. Interviews of Charles Mingus’ collaborators, family members and friends help in shaping this new portrait."

The documentary project is on Kickstarter.com, which helps people fund their projects.  As of this moment, there is only 16 hours left to donate.  At the time of writing this article, people have pledged $38,527; however, the goal is $45,000.  Please visit www.kickstarter.com to read more about the project and to donate.   This goal will allow them to continue into the next stage of filming, which is planed for winter 2011 and spring 2012.
