'Doctor Who': Peter Capaldi's Doctor's costume has been revealed

Doctor Who, the Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi)

Peter Capaldi is the latest to take on the role of the Doctor on "Doctor Who," and on Monday, Jan. 27, BBC America released the first image of him in his new costume.

With a new Doctor on "Doctor Who" comes a new costume, and for Capaldi, dark blue seems to be the color of choice. As you can see in the photo, he's wearing a dark blue Crombie coat with a red lining, dark blue pants, a white shirt and black Doc Marten shoes, a look created by the show's costume designer Howard Burden.

However you may feel about Peter Capaldi taking over the role from Matt Smith, and whatever your first impressions of him are from the brief look we had of him at the end of the Christmas special, "The Time of the Doctor," after the regeneration, it does seem like a fitting look for the Doctor.

In a statement, Peter Capaldi has said, "He's woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord." Leader writer and executive producer Steven Moffat has chimed in with, "New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over – Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you!"

What do you think of Peter Capaldi's Doctor's costume for "Doctor Who" season 8?
