Are you ready for what's bound to be an epic event? Well, get ready for the "Doctor Who" 50th anniversary special, "The Day of the Doctor," for which BBC America released an iconic image on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
Yes, BBC America is celebrating the 50th anniversary of "Doctor Who," and at the center of it is the special anniversary special, titled "The Day of the Doctor," premiering Saturday, Nov. 23. The BBC has confirmed that it will be a feature length 75-minute adventure starring Matt Smith (the 11th Doctor), David Tennant (the 10th Doctor), Jenna Coleman (Clara), Billie Piper (Rose), and John Hurt, marking the first time Tennant and Piper have appeared on the show since they said goodbye in 2010. Hurt's character was introduced at the end of the season 7 finale, "The Name of the Doctor." All three Doctors who will be part of the special can be seen in the new image to the left, as can very familiar words: "Bad Wolf."
""The Day of the Doctor" is nearly here!" Smith has said. "Hope you all enjoy. There's lots more coming your way, as the countdown to the 50th begins now." Lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat has released the following statement:"50 years has turned Doctor Who from a television show into a cultural landmark. Personally I can't wait to see what it becomes after a hundred."
There's plenty more to be announced for the 50th anniversary celebration on BBC America before the big event. The "Doctor Who" 50th anniversary episode, "The Day of the Doctor," will air Saturday, Nov. 23. What do you think of the first image?
