'Doctor Strange' director Scott Derrickson enthusiastic about the movie

According to JoBlo on Wednesday, an interview with the "Doctor Strange" movie director, Scott Derrickson, had talked about how he felt he was best suited for the comic book movie and how enthusiastic he was to take on the job. Derrickson emphasized that with the kind of projects he's worked on in the past, it would make sense this film would be the kind of work that would be best for him. He is also directed an upcoming film "Deliver from Evil."

Fan reaction was quite favorable as Derrickson lamented on the amount of Twitter followers that had changed dramatically as well as his affinity for Doctor Strange. Considering such movies he's done up to this point such as "Hellraiser: Inferno", "The Exorcism of Emily Rose, "Sinister", and a host of other eerily creepy movies, it would just make sense that Derrickson be dealt the hand of taking on the master of mysticism Doctor Stephen Strange.

"I feel such an affinity for the character and the story and the ambition of those comics, especially the original Stan Lee and Steve Ditko "Strange Tales" - I think those are my favorite of all of them. The entire history of the comics is extraordinary."

There is also the fuel that already seems to be steaming the Marvel Studios engine when it comes to overall fan enthusiasm for the franchise. Fan reaction to the "Doctor Strange" seemed to have exude a huge amount of positive activity. Fans also feel the need for this movie to already exist as most have a deep familiarity with the Marvel Universe.

"I think people who know the comic world and the Marvel universe, they all feel the same way I do, which is, 'This is the Marvel movie we're all ready to see now.' This movie needs to exist. The outpouring of excitement that people have shown is the thing I've been most pleasantly surprised."

Beyond Derrickson's thoughts, fan reactions, and overall enthusiasm for having been chosen for the comic book movie, he was pretty much quiet on other questions such as who would be cast as Stephen Strange. The director could not say, but understood it was a basic question most interviewers would ask anyhow. One may speculate that considering the director's history with horror related films, one may wonder if this specific movie could have such a theme.

To get an idea of Derrickson's works, one may want to see the upcoming "Deliver Us from Evil" movie that is scheduled to be released in theaters come July 2.
