‘Doctor, Doctor!’ is inaugural show at Stages of Gray Theatre (Photos)

The world premiere of a new comedy/revue, “Doctor, Doctor!” will be the inaugural production at a new Pasadena theater. Written and directed by Randall Gray and presented by Stages of Gray Theatre Company the show opens February 1, 2013.

The cast includes (in alphabetical order) Scott Alin, Cody Bushee. Christine Cater, Jon Christie, Mark Colbenson, Sara Davenport, J.D. Driskill, Michelle Feng, Neil Lewis, Richard Lee, Bear Manescalchi, Lisa Marie, Eliezer Ortiz, Wendy Rostker, Samantha Vandellon, Sarajane Williams, Barbara Woods and Claudia Zielke.

In “Doctor, Doctor!,” several health specialists unite under one roof in the notion of delivering healthcare more efficiently in the wake of recent legislation. Several of the providers and the administrative staff are swiftly presented with prospective romantic partners. Using reverse bedside manner, one of the patients brings his considerable masculine charm to woo one of the female staff.

As with many companies, the specter of office politics occasionally rears its ugly head. There are other pressures, too: With the national economy in slow recovery, is it a wise time to undertake the establishment of such an ambitious company?

More central to the action: Can the show’s several romances blossom in an environment where business and disease collide?

Set to a score comprised of pop standards, “Doctor, Doctor!” provides laughter, singing and dancing in a look at the lighter side of healthcare in the era of reform.

“Doctor, Doctor!” opens 8 p.m. Friday, February 1, and performs 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday, with 1 p.m. Saturday matinees February 9, 16, 23, March 9, 16 and 23. Admission is $30, $27 seniors (65+) and military personnel. Call 866-811-4111 or visit www.stagesofgray.com.

Stages of Gray Theatre is located at 299 N. Altadena Dr. in Pasadena.
