A New Albany doctor is charged with nine felony counts and arrested on Feb. 20, in Central Ohio. According to Fox News, Dr. Ali Salim was indicted in the murder of 23-year-old pregnant mother of two, Deanna Ballman and her unborn child.
Ballman's body was found last summer, on Aug. 1, 2012, in her car, after she went to a job interview for a housekeeping position listed in an online ad. Ballman was nine months pregnant at the time of her rape and murder. Her cause of death was listed as "acute heroin intoxication" by the coroner's office.
Fox News reports, "Salim, 44, was indicted on two counts each of murder and tampering with evidence, as well as single counts of rape, assault, kidnapping, corrupting another with drugs and abuse of a corpse. Salim was arrested at home and taken to jail on Wednesday to await his arraignment Feb. 21, 2013."
Reportedly, Salim was born in Pakistan where he completed his medical training in 1993. According to the State Medical Board of Ohio, Salim listed his specialties as internal medicine, emergency medicine and psychiatry.
