Dock Bookshop's fifth annual DFW Literary SoulFEST

This is the fifth year for Dock Bookshops annual DFW Literary SoulFEST to celebrate September's National Literary Month. This year, the SoulFEST will be at 1600 New Cobb Park, Fort Worth, Texas, from 10am to 4pm.

At the SoulFEST there will be entertainment, food, vendors, authors, presentations and poetry. The event will take place along Cobb Park Drive West, at the new Cobb Park.

This festival's goal is to advocate, celebrate, and promote literary arts and literacy and bring community events to issues concerning our youth, health, environment and economy as well as support the mission of the Texas Literacy Connection Corporation (TLC), which is building reading skills and transforming lives.

Today's schedule is:

10:00 - 11:00am - Walk/Run, Drumming, Welcome & Overview, Acknowledgements, Unveiling of Free Library, Children Book Show

11:00am-12:00pm - Book Club Shout Outs, Author Runway, Title Author Donna Hill

12:00 - 1:00pm - Teen Summit sponsored by Legacy Imprints

1:00-2:00pm - Art of Derrick Kinfolk Williams, Poetry in the Park, Revisiting Ragtime to Harlem Renaissance hosted by Pharoah Davis, co-owner of The Studio with his father Abiodun Oyewole

2:00-3:00pm - Reby Carey Literary Award, Special Presentation: Fighters In & Beyond the Ring by Milton Houston, Live Community Book Review of "Life in the Fishbowl" & Speak Out

3:00-4:00pm - SoulFEST Concert feat. DFW Finest - Dezyne, DOK & Eboni Essence, LRP3 & more

Participating authors are Donna Hill, Keith Thomas Walker, Abiodun Oyewole of the Last Poets, Sharina Simone, Brisha Brishelle, Ernestine Rose, Don Willis, and many more.

Bring your lawn chairs. If rain, the alternate location is The Dock Bookshop.
