Dobbie named NLL Athlete of the week on Wednesday

According to the National Lacrosse League on Wednesday, Calgary Roughnecks forward Dane Dobbie has been named the National Lacrosse League offensive player of the week for week ten of National Lacrosse League action.

Dobbie scored six goals and recorded ten points in the Roughnecks 19-15 win over the Minnesota Swarm at the Scotiabank Saddledome this past Friday. With the win, the Roughnecks improve to 6-5 and are one game back of the Washington Stealth in the National Lacrosse League's Western Division.

Dobbie was not the only Calgary based athlete named athlete of the week.

According to the University of Calgary Dinos website, Dinos' athletics athlete Rachel Machin has been named the Canadian Interuniversity Sport female athlete of the week for the period from March 3-10.

Machin, a third year science student from Calgary, won the gold medal in the women's high jump and women's long jump at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport Track and Field Championships in Edmonton last weekend. The Dinos women also won the overall team title at the event.
