When doing a lunge it is important you do it correctly. If you do not have proper form, you might as well not do any lunges at all. It is important to make sure your form is correct also, to reduce the stress on your joints. It will great reduce injury.
To do a lunge you first stand up with your shoulders back and relaxed. Next, engage your core, remember every exercise you do should engage your core, somehow. Step forward with only one leg; place your hips at a 90 degree level. Make sure your front knee is directly above your ankle, not over. Lower our hips about 20 degrees. Use your heels to push yourself to the starting position.
You can add hand weights to help exercise your arms. Another exercise you can do that promises to make you ‘feel the burn’ is walking lunges. You complete the lunge above, but do it by repeating over and over by essentially walking while doing a lunge. Aim to position your body deep in the lunge as possible.
Do you do lunges frequently? Do you add hand weights?
