Who do they serve?
Family Star serves pregnant women, infants, toddlers and young children up until six years of age. In addition they support the families of each child through their comprehensive services. A majority of the families they serve are living at the federal poverty level.
What makes Family Star different?
Family Star provides the highest level of Montessori education for children from 0-6 years, along with comprehensive services. Family Star is different from other schools because of the high quality services offered, including family support services, mental health and disability services, and health and nutrition services.
Two programs are available
Parents can enroll their child in Family Star’s center based or home based programs. The center based program has low teacher to child ratios, and all food, formula, diapers, and wipes are provided. Family Star is Qualistar rated, a DPP provider and accepts CCAP and TANF child care payments. The home based program is year round for ages 0-5 including pregnancy.
Meet Lindsey Houck, who is a Parent Educator with the Home-Based program at Family Star. Lindsey has worked at Family Star for about a year. Previously she worked in mental health and social services. She recently returned from the Peace Corps in Costa Rica where she was a Youth Development volunteer. Lindsey is a good example of the quality of teachers that Family Star recruits.

Family Star has been in the Denver community since 1988 and have two childcare centers. The Northwest center in Jefferson Park opened in 1997. Today, both centers serve nearly 300 children annually through a variety of program options and effectively unify the best practices of Montessori education. Their comprehensive services are typically integrated into Head Start programs.
Both childcare centers have immediate openings serving children birth - age 5. They offer full day, extended day, full year services. They are open from 7:15am-5:30pm Monday- Friday.
