Have you heard of "Runner's Face?" Seems that there are some plastic surgeons who refer to some patients as having runner's face. Plastic surgeons can also tell which side you sleep on by the wrinkling on that side of your face. They can also tell the signs of normal aging which include loss of elasticity and volume in the face. Serious athletes pride themselves on low body fat which also depletes the fat volume in the face. If they exercise a lot in the sun without proper sunblock, wrinkles appear because of sun damage to the skin. Loss of volume in the face appears earlier than with the natural aging process. Both men and women ages 40+ who exercise a lot burn off fat beneath the layers of the skin which gives the appearance of a more skeletal look from loss of volume and elasticity.
So, you could be a runner or you could play a lot of tennis or diet to keep your weight in check. And you could have what some call runner's face and not even be a runner!
There are some ways to rejuvenate the skin which include both surgical and non-surgical procedures. A combination of Botox and injectable fillers such as Sculptra, Juvederm, Radiesse and Restylane can smooth wrinkles and restore fullness to the face. Botox targets the lines in the brows and crow's feet and can last up to six months. Other injectables can last at least a year and some longer than that.
Restylane just received FDA approval for use in the lips. As we age or lose body fat, our lips begin to thin. This is another solution to plump the lips.
Another procedure would be "fat grafting" using the body's own fat injected into areas in the face such as under the eyes, and in the cheek and jowl line.
Nonivasive treatments such as chemical peels, laser skin tightening, laser skin resurfacing, and IPL laser treatments can help in eracing the lines formed within the skin itself such as around the mouth. For the true correction of sagging skin, a surgical procedure such as an eyelid lift, facelift or browlift will rejuvenate the face and take years off.
Dr. Robert Zaworski, Northside Center for Plastic Surgery, says that in addition to the above, "the patient should also be on an aggressive skin care program such as Obagi, IS Clinical (Innovative Skin Care) accompanied with Retin A, moisturizer and a sunblock.

Patient Testimonial: "I first saw Dr. Zaworski because a close friend was so happy with what he had done for her. I liked him immediately because he LISTENED to my concerns and to what I wanted. The surgery went so well. He did the procedure on Thursday and I went to work the following Monday. I love the results. I have referred my friends to him and they wind up referring their friends."
