Some experts say Americans consume 28 million pounds of potato chips on Super Bowl Sunday, but the international nonprofit Calorie Control Council (CCC) estimates this year's consumption at a more modest 11.2 million pounds.
And while there's no estimate on how many loaded potato skins are downed, you better love doing the wave, because to burn off just six those laden snacks, you'll have to 'wave' 6,389 times.
According to the CCC, this year's consumption of potato chips represents 27 billion calories and 1.8 billion grams of fat. The fat grams are the equivalent of four million pounds of fat, which is equal to the weight of 13,000 National Football League (NFL) offensive linemen at 300 pounds each.
Burning off those calories is another matter: most people need to run 49 football fields to burn off just two handfuls. Also Read: The 10 best low-cal, low-carb beers

A trip earlier today to Costco on Coleman Avenue showed the Super Bowl party snack attack is in full swing: carts were loaded with gigantic pizzas, tortilla chips, pretzels, nuts, cheese, and lots of chicken wings in every flavor. (Costco pizzas, by the way, are $3 off). Also Read: Healthy appetizer recipes
