Brothers Angus and Malcolm Young formed the pioneer heavy metal band AC/DC in 1973. This band has grown to be one of the highest grossing bands of all time, selling over 200 million albums worldwide. Despite the common heavy metal classification, AC/DC has always said that the band's music was 'simply rock and roll'.
Like many of you, I was very upset yesterday after reading the "rumour" going around on facebook that due to Malcolm Young, rhythm guitarist for the band, having a stroke which left him unable to perform, the highly popular band AC/DC was calling it quits. Not true!
Today on AC/DC's website, the following statement was released:
'After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health. Malcolm would like to thank the group’s diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support.
In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family’s privacy be respected during this time. The band will continue to make music.'
So, rock is not dead, party on! Malcolm Young, we salute you!
