Even though brick and mortar state government offices will be closed on Monday, February 17 in observance of Presidents’ Day online services will still be available. This means those on unemployment still needs to contact Michigan Automated Response Voice Interactive Network (MARVIN) system to claim their eligibility for unemployment benefits

Michigan’s Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) must contact MARVIN by telephone or online account once every two weeks to certify that they are unemployed and meet the eligibility requirements for benefits. This includes al holidays if that holiday is a normal reporting day based on the individual’s social security number.

Failure to call MARVIN on Monday will make it necessary to report the following Thursday, Friday or Saturday, which are open call-in days. The line is open from 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. MARVIN can be reached toll-free at 1-866-638-3993.

The online reporting option is available the Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM) account 24 hours a day from Monday through Saturday of their reporting week.

UIA warns that because of the holiday there may be a one or two day delay before the benefits are either directly deposited into the bank accounts or loaded onto the debit cards of unemployed workers.
