The hot news from "down Under" is the report that DNA dousing security systems are being installed in more McDonald's locations in Australia. According to a report that was published Jan. 11, 2013 on ABC News Blogs this new system is not new at all. In fact, McDonald's has had this system in their busiest stores in Australia for a while now, six of these stores have had this system in place since January of last year. In response to a string of recent robberies of multiple McDonald's stores in Australia the company is expanding their locations with this interesting system.
The system comes from a company called "SelectaDNA". The interesting news is how it works. The security system when triggered douses the criminals with non toxic DNA that glows blue while under UV light and stays on clothes and skins for weeks after application (even after washing). This DNA is specific to the location, now instead of the criminal leaving their DNA at a crime scene they take the crime scene's specific DNA with them - essentially linking them to the crime scene.
Is this the newest step to crime fighting? Seems like a logical move for crime fighting tactics but how reliable do you think this new system would be? Feel free to leave your opinion below.
