Once again Yonkers rapper DMX is making waves, but this time it's not in the court room. DMX and R&B singer Tyrese were recorded conversing when X complained about his ruined relationship with Jay-Z.
DMX and Jay-Z were once label-mates on Def Jam Records until Jay-Z was named president of company in 2004.
Jay ruffled a lot of feathers with his business decisions during his tenure as President of Def Jam. His actions or lack thereof prompted many artists signed to the label to speak out against the self-proclaimed God MC.
LL Cool J, Redman, and Method Man were just a few of the acts that were upset by Jay-Z's decision making. DMX is the latest artist to express his disappointment.
"Jay is talented...but he has no heart behind it," DMX said. "There's no soul behind it, but it's strictly motivated by money."
"We had history so I maintained that respect, but I lost it when he became the President of Def Jam."
Jay-Z is not likely to respond to the comments made by X. Jay has done a pretty good job of ignoring the barbs hurled at him by disgruntled rappers as of late.

DMX is acting like he is high on drugs, come on change the record already.
Tecia, it's quite possible that he is high on drugs. DMX has a history of drug use.
Struggling with drug addiction is one thing, but to be as old as he is, and acting like he is 17 is just foolish. Jay-z is taking rap, and black males to another level. Jay-z not only taught me that regardless of your enviorment, you can become successful, but he has also showed us how to transition out of the nonsense, such as fighting with each other to other lucritive buisness. How about dmx begin acting like an adult, and discussing how he feel with the indivdual, instead of getting high and ranting on tv. DMX has been in the rap game for as long as Jay-z, why didn't President Obama asked for his help when he was running? The answer is that he is a disgrace, a disappointment to our race. Dmx is nothing more than a junkie for drugs, who is looking for someone else to blame for his problems. The sad part is that people who have the chance to reach others should do something meaningful with it, but these fools use it to hurt others.
Why is the insane rantings of a druggie news? Why the Examiner is fanning the flames and giving this non-story life, should be it's headline.
Examiner, if you want to be considered a credible news source, then Examiner, please cover credible news! Geeez
Why are y'all hatin' on X for, back in the day we was feelin' his music and just because he had his problems with drugs don't mean he can't put out a cd harder than BP3, im sorry but BP3 is so overrated, it wasn't good at all, if he would've put more heart into it it would've been a classic but straight up it was garbage to the fullest, even Eminem's Relapse was better and that was a big dissapointment, everyone nowadays wanna worship Jay-Z like he is hip hop, Jay-Z stop being hip hop after the Nas beef, then he became all about pop, don't get me wrong Jay-Z is one of the best no doubt but not the best, X is just trying to point out that Jay-Z was more respected as an MC and not as a Mogul, just remember this to all the Jay-Z worshipers, there was a reason why Tupac didn't like Jay-Z, think about it.....
He has no heart? Who? DMX? Jay Z has heart to do what he wants to do. He's passionate about his priorities. What about DMX? Do you have heart for your wife?
everyone commenting bad about dmx needs to look deeper into what's going on. of course the drugs took a tole on x, but what he is saying makes complete sense. basically all mainstream artist have no soul or passion in their lyrics or performances. they are motivated by money alone, not love for the people or the culture. look at what happens to the artists that do!!!
for real what X was sayin is... name a jayz song with soul or lots of emotion or heart put into it..you cant but there are tons of X songs where he gives his all. jay is successful and can rap but he boring and rap about nothing.
d/l the following X songs and you'll see what i mean
i miss you
life be my song
ayo kato
the convo
ready to meet him
a minute for your son
slippin
fame
anything he does he puts his heart into it
X says what he feels and gives you his life on record what can jayz put up against that? nothing. money cash hoes is all he can say
jay z is good rapper but cannot compare to DMX come on! don't worry about sales and publicity of recent, just music that is about givin ur heart x wins hands down.
also think about this for real...
X has beat jayz in a battle before they were signed.
X beat him in backstage freestyle on hard knock life tour
when both in their prime X outsold jay multiple times
every song they are on together like murdergram, blackout, its murda, X steals the show and has way harder verse.
X never been accused of biting people unlike jayz. jay bit jazzo, biggie, and big L come on now!!
i know the majority like jayz but i just cant understand why
I agree what X is sayin to a point. X is an always will be my favorite mc. But to J's credit, he told us from day one that he isn't a rapper. Jay's a hustler, he's hustlin wit the rap game. And alot of people don't understand business. If u understand business then u can understand every move Jay make. It ain't about friends, it aint about respect, and it aint personal. Its just business. Everybody always got somethin to say, but they don't say how good a businessman he is. Thats what you all are missing. I can name and entire album of Jay's that had plenty of soul and emotion. Does anyone remember American Gangsta? I know staight killas in the joint that listen to it an cried. I told one of my best friends don't listen to it til u get home. That record had him messed up for two months. That album was for real street people, hustlas, cats that really live that life everyday. Yeah he made money off of it, but it was real. X is right, but ain't no friends in business. Just u.
Co-Sign to the fullest on what jay<X just stated, Jay-Z is way to much hype, people depict him as the greatest of all time & I really don't know why, he is 1 of the top 10 but number 1 never, think about it, if Tupac, Biggie, & Big L were still here do you honestly think Jay would be in the position he's in, Tupac damn sure would've made sure that never happened believe that, also people give Jay-Z way too much credit I mean Nas is the true king of hip hop right now, the only difference between Nas & Jay is Jay cares about the fame & glory while Nas puts out music we can relate to, for the record these are the top MC's of all time
1. Tupac
2. Biggie
3. Rakim
4. KRS-One
5. Nas
6. Big Daddy Kane
7. Slick Rick
8. Ice Cube
9. L.L. Cool J
10. Wu Tang Clan
11. Snoop Dogg
12. Outkast
13. Big L
14. Jay-Z
15. Eminem
16. DMX
17. Busta Rhymes
18. Daz & Kurupt
19. Ludacris
20. Kanye West
at least X paved his own way and speaks the truth real life sht
I don't know why record labels would put rappers as CEOs or senior executives over record labels. They have no formal education (most didn't even graduate from high school) or competence to run these labels. Give the job to a MBA who needs the job. These rappers don't realize the seriousness of real work -- that you have to come to the office everyday and work like regular people and be prepared to deal with employees. You can't come to work when you feel like it or think you can bring your girlfriend or wife and play in the office like it's a gig.
Jay-Z is being overhyped and he's benefited a lot through his marriage to Beyonce (media attention keeps him in the news). He's just been the beneficiary of other people's hard work (or great investment ideas), particularly the clubs he jointly owns and the fashion empire (except rap).
On a side note, DMX needs to stop hating! He could learn something from Jay-Z. Jay morphed from a criminal to a legitimate businessman.
Ok I am not a fan of Jayz or DMX but here is what happened
I was at that battle it was like in June 96 in this pool hall in the bronx. People came out the barber shop to listen, because they was spitting over this old school beat, everybody was standing outside, and they had a speaker holding the door open. Jay-z whipped him lyrically his flow was just superior; but X had enough energy for 10 people, and he was animated. Everybody said it was a tie, but people said jay-z won on the word play on the streets.
i understand what you saying, but battles depend alot on delivery ya know? if i spit decent bars and punchlines but im entertaining the crowd and get people to be like 'ohhh' and pumpin with style and energy, the crowd cares about that alot more than lots of lyrics that are poorly presented.
im not saying thats how it was but i can see that because of who the rappers are
thats right! thats why cats like canibus arent poppin cus its just lyrics, same with most underground hip hopppers with nothing special charisma and all sound the same
let dmx alone no matter what u say he is the best i love him
Got something to say?
