Shortly after Ben Tufts father, Craig, passed away, Ben created a fund in his name to help children study nature. To get money for the fund, Ben calls on his musician friends to throw a concert. This year the event was held at Jammin Java, in Vienna. The Arlington based Freedom Village television show was there to cover the event. Footage from the show will air Thursday night at 7:30 pm and Saturday night at 10 pm. The local artists featured on the show are Derek Evry and His Band of Misanthropes, Mud Rey, Margot MacDonald, Angela Sheik, Jason Ager, and Lauren Calve. Ben Tufts plays drums with Mud Rey and Derek Evry's band. Derek Evry plays guitar with Margot MacDonald. These musicians are performing for children's education. They help each other like a good music community does. When Ben's drum kit was stolen from him shortly after this event was held. Many of these same musicians played a benefit show to raise money for a new kit for him. These are the citizens in the DMV's music community. They are worthy of your support.
