This Saturday, on International Women's Day, fittingly enough!, the legendary DKNY brand threw open it's doors for a few hours to celebrate 25 years of fabulous fashion.
The West Broadway store was a site for merriment, networking, and stargazing. Trays of mini Mote & Chandon champagne bottles were passed, along with delicious Baked by Melissa mini cupcakes. From 2-5, shoppers, bloggers, and innocent bystanders swirled round the store, enjoying the live DJ and snapping up pieces from DKNY's sporty ss2014 collection. Mixing and mingling with the common folk were bloggers Nathan Moy of The Provoker, Alexa Curtis of A Life in the Fashion Lane, myself (Sassy Ethnic Bohemian). and Mary Alice Stephenson.
A beautiful shock was meeting former Gossip Girl star Kelly Rutherford (Lilly Bass), who is just as luminous and poised in person as she was on the show. I photographed her with Nathan Moy (who wil be featured in my revived NY Fashion Bloggers Project soon) and was lucky enough to speak with her about her new projects apres GG. She excitedly spoke of working with the UN and putting her efforts into using her fame to enhance the lives of others. While she has a few entertainment projects coming up, her real goal is to be a force for good. Her choice of a simple LBD went well with her razor sharb blond bob, and barely made up face. She shook her head and laughed while announcing- 'I'm going to be 45 It's my time now!'
A bold pronouncement and an inspirational one. Happy International Women's Day all!
