DKNY (Donna Karan New York) brought it’s ‘A’ game to the runway … or should we say “it’s ‘D’ game”, … as several of its womenswear garments were adorned with a letterman style ‘D’ right front in center or just off-side of the chest.
This sporty touch was blended with flirty feminine prints and a splash of fur.
“Keeping it "real" at @donnakarandkny women and men of all walks of life and sizes on the runway. Way to go donna! #nyfw ”
Models of varying age, ethnicity and size were chosen to walk for DKNY. (This is in alignment with the forecast, brought on my changes in the New York labor laws, predicting that gone are the days of the waif thin, Caucasian dominant, teeny bopper New York runway scene.) Also missing from the runway, were the skyscraper heels, replaced with sneakers!
The runway presentation included more than just women, as a few gorgeous men wearing menswear pieces made their mark.
The color palette for the DKNY Fall 2014 collection was dark - primarily black, gold, grey and white, but the playful designs were uplifting. The designs had a cozy, familiar feeling to them. Like the feeling you get drowned in your boyfriend’s letterman jacket, but you can’t resist wearing it because it’s so comfy and it represents that fact that you belong. (Take a look at the slideshow for runway shots.)
Our fav was the modernized two-piece letter sweater and trench combo, in colors symbolic of a bee (black, gold and grey) and so chic it will be sure to have the fashion world buzzing!
