DK at the IMA: Picture This

Dance Kaleidoscope (or DK as they’re known by fans), Indianapolis’ premier modern dance company, will present their next performance May 1-4, 2014 titled Picture This. Artistic director, David Hochoy’s inspiration for both works came from two paintings within the galleries of the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA). The first work, Heart of Joy, evokes the feelings of Georgia O’Keefe’s flower paintings ("Jimsonweed” in particular). The second work, Girl at the Piano: Recording Sound, is inspired by the facial expression of the girl within a painting by Theodore Roszak (also titled “Girl at the Piano: Recording Sound”).

If you have extra time, consider visiting both paintings on display at the IMA before attending a performance. It will truly be a magical experience to watch the paintings come to life on the stage!
