The now infamous Django toys have been banned from eBay, killing all hope for toy collectors to get the now ultra rare figures from the slave movie epic “Django Unchained.”
Within the last few weeks, a firestorm of controversy erupted when civil rights groups bemoaned the idea of young people playing with slavery-inspired toys. The toys, which not only depicted the freed slave Django, but also the “House Slave” played by Samuel L. Jackson, as well as the slave master Calvin Candie, were deemed to be disrespectful to the real, brutal, and disgusting history of slavery in America.
Due to the pressure, the manufacturer of the Django toys stopped production on them, leaving the few remaining toys highly coveted.
That sent many running to eBay to sell the toys. But now, even eBay is throwing up the Not for Sale sign.
In a surprising move, the Django toys have now been banned from being sold on eBay. Sellers who were trying to part with the figures, which were being sold from anywhere from $500 to $1,000, were sent an email explaining the decision.
Sellers have also been warned, too, about relisting the now banned toys inspired by the Quentin Tarantino flick.
