DJ AM, a high profile disc-jockey-for-hire who recently helped launch The Ultimate LOST Event, has been found dead in his New York City apartment.
Drug paraphernalia was reportedly found at the scene, although the exact cause of death has not yet been determined. He talked openly about past addictions, but was said to have been drug-free for years.
“The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, please respect their privacy at this time,” his publicist Jenni Weinman said in a statement.
Born Adam Goldstein, the thirty-six year old became a celebrity in his own right -- not only through the exclusive Hollywood parties at which he was a fixture, but through his tabloid documented romances and glamorous liftestyle. He was admired by music enthusiasts and executives alike.
Goldstein survived a South Carolina plane crash nearly one year ago that also severely injured musician Travis Barker.
