DIY: Juice pouch coin purse

These coin purses are durable, inexpensive, and fun.

Supplies:

  • A juice pouch (such as Capri Sun or Kool Aid)
  • 4 inches hook and loop (velcro)
  • Thread
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine

Instructions:

Obtain a juice pouch, cut open the side, rinse, and dry. Trim around edges of pouch, and save. Sew the hood and loop to the inside of the side that was originally cut. Using a piece that was trimmed off the juice pouch, fold it in half and sandwich it between the front and back of the juice pouch, near the top corner. With right sides facing out and using a zig zag stitch, sew around the perimeter of the pouch except for the side with the hook and loop. Trim the thread and it is done!

This is a great project for a Girl Scout troop. It is easy for beginner sewers and they can bring their dues in it to the meetings. They are also cute as party favors.

The supplies can be found at Gary's Arts, Crafts, & Needlework, Inc., Joann Fabrics, Michaels, or Wal Mart. All of the stores listed above have many locations in the Metairie, Louisiana area.
