DIY: Fleece pocket scarf

These pocket scarves are sure to be a hit, especially with the kids because so often pockets come in handy. This project requires minimal sewing by hand and is easy.

Supplies:

  • Fleece
  • Measuring tape
  • needle
  • embroidery floss
  • buttons
  • scissors

Instructions:

Cut a strip of fleece measuring 6 inches X 40-60 inches. The length can be adjusted depending on how long you want the scarf to be and if it is for an adult versus a child. Taking one end, turn a corner up and stitch with embroidery floss along the long side of the scarf. Repeat to the other end. Add buttons where appropriate. Using the scissors, snip a small hole for the button to go through. Trim threads and it's done!

Many variations could be made by choosing different colors and prints of fleece, embroidery floss, and buttons.

The supplies can be found at Joann Fabrics, Handcock Fabrics, or Wal Mart. All of the stores listed above have many locations in the Metairie, Louisiana area. If shopping at Joann Fabrics or Handcock, don’t forget to take a coupon!
