These rose barrettes are very easy and there is little sewing! This project is one that will make good use of the leftovers from other projects and good for beginners. They also make great gifts or favors.
Supplies:
· pink felt, approximately 4 X 4 inches, 6 X 6 piece of green felt
· green embroidery floss
· Scissors
. Thread
· Needle
Instructions:
- Cut a spiral shape in the piece of pink felt, and begin rolling it around itself starting at the outer end, not the inside end
- Using the thread and needle, put a few stitches in the base of the flower to hold it together
- Cut a leaf shape out of the green felt, large enough to cover the snap barrette that was chosen, repeat
- Arrange the snap barrette on one of the leaves, so that the entire barrette is covered by the leaf.
- Snip a small hole into the leaf where the back of the snap barrette attaches to the front of the barrette.
- Slip the back of the barrette into the hole and snap it closed.
- Place one leaf on top of the leaf secured in the barrette. The leaf without the hole snipped in it should be on top of the barrette, and the other leaf should still be secured in the barrette, with the back coming through the small hole that was cut.
- Using the green embroidery floss, topstitch the leaves together
- Using the needle and thread, sew the rose on to the leaves.
- Secure the thread ends.
It’s done!
Variations could be done using different colors of felt and embroidery floss and other accessories such as sequins.
