DIY Egg White Face Mask

December 6, 2012

We all hear about exfoliating scrubs and deep cleaning facial cleansers, but how often do we find good masks? You know… the kind that peel off but do not hurt. I finally found an answer and it does not require me to buy anything.
All you need is 1 egg, a teaspoon of olive oil, and 1 tissue. I am talking about Kleenex; for your nose (do not use tissue paper for gift wrapping.) If you have oily skin, just use the egg. I have dry skin, so the oil really helps moisturize mine.

1. Crack open the egg, into a bowl but only use the egg whites.
2. Add olive oil and mix together.
3. Apply mixture to face. Make sure not to put it too close to your eyes.
4. Grab the tissue and put over the wet layer you just added to your face. You can either tear the tissue in strips or make holes for your eyes, nostrils and mouth. I prefer strips because I can cover my face more easily.
5. After the tissue is all over your face, apply another layer of the mixture on top. Once soaked, you’re done.
6. I recommend letting it dry all the way until you peel it off; 20-25 minutes is ideal. Then peel away and rinse.

You may feel like a mummy, but I promise, the treatment is worth it. The egg whites and the olive oil maintain the moisture of your skin, but also become easy to peel off without any irritation. The mask gets down to the pores and lifts dirt and removes blackheads. The treatment is also used to prevent wrinkles, no matter what age. After trying and loving this, I decided to do it once a month. After all, I do enjoy using other scrubs weekly. Enjoy!
