There is nothing easier than creating simple candleholders to change up how my Vancouver home looks whenever I feel like it. I have found several ways to decorate simple candleholders using things I already have at home. Here are my top five favorite candleholder ideas that are so simple you will wonder why you never tried it before.
- "Can"dle holders-I call these cute little holders this because they are made from a small can such as tuna can, cleaned out pet food or other small can. Once they are cleaned, they can be decorated with scrapbook paper, decoupage, or ribbons to create a unique candleholder that is nothing like what you would find in the stores.
- Decoupage/ tissue paper candle holders-I learned to make these candleholders while attending my Vancouver grade school. They are usually made from a baby food jar, or Mason jar and they have tissue paper or magazine cut outs glued to the outside. Once the candle is lit, a pretty color or design appears, depending on what you put in your design.
- Mason Jars-there are so many ways that you can decorate a mason jar to look like a fantastic candleholder. Dye the jar in food coloring, add some fancy lace on the outside, or keep it plain and simple by adding some sand or wine corks in the bottom to add weight and substance to the candle.
- Decorative Plate-Blown glass is very popular in Portland and Vancouver. If you know how to blow glass, or perhaps fusion is your preferred glass craft, a cute and colorful plate to set your candles on so they do not drip everywhere may be the simplistic look you were looking for.
- Wine/ martini Glass candle holders-This candleholder is so simple and it looks fancy too. Find a nice shaped wine or martini glass; you can get them very inexpensively at the Goodwill. There could be a pattern on the glass itself but I find its better that there is not. Place a fancy trinket, I use my dolphin collection, on a mantle or table. Then place the glass upside down over the trinket. Set the candle on what used to be the bottom of the glass.
