Everyone seems to be heading back to school…including me! Applying myself towards a second degree then onto my masters…I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on some essentials…I took a moment to make a few things I needed as well as bookmarked some others I hope to find time to complete! I wanted to share some of my favorites!
Messenger bags, backpacks, duffle bags, book bags…however you want to phrase it, we all need something to carry our supplies. I found this SUPER easy and fast tutorial for a great tote! Between the Lines explains in centimeters but it’s easily converted into inches (I made mine 20” x 60”, then folded as instructed) and you can combine fabrics, make a lining, add pockets inside and more! I currently use mine as a computer tote.
Another way to show your creative side is to paint your favorite canvas shoes! Keds, Toms, Vans…painted shoes are a huge trend! Either make mirror image designs, continue one large picture or create a pattern, personalize your wardrobe with one of a kind images! Instructables gives you a step by step tutorial on how to use inexpensive acrylics to achieve the look.
The last hint and helpful DIY I have is a capacitive stylus for your electronics! Sometimes you just don’t want to touch the screen (working lunch…hello?!) but you may not have a stylus readily available. There are some amazing hacks out there that if you were to use some lovely washi tape to bling it up, you can have a few made and stored with your pencils and pens! Check out all of the materials Makezine’s DIY suggest using for your stylus!
Good luck going back and enjoy this school year!
