DIY: almond butter

Contrary to popular belief peanut butter is not the only available nut butter on the market. While it remains a consumer favorite nut butters such as cashew, macadamia, and hazelnut just to name a few go highly unnoticed. What’s even more surprising is how simple these nut butters are to make on your own, today we will focus on almond butter.

Almonds have a high amount of monounsaturated fats, which is a healthy fat that helps reduce the risk of heart disease. It also contains an insane amount of good vitamins that help with overall diet/health. To make almond butter it literally takes only 20 minutes but the essential part takes hours. Don’t worry you don’t have to do anything strenuous.

How to make Almond Butter:

1. Soak almonds for at least 8 hours (this is optional but yields a smoother butter)
2. Place soaked almonds in a high powered food blender or processor
3. Blend for 20 minutes

Optional

 Sea salt, fine
 Sweetner, such as maple syrup or coconut sugar

Overall, almond butter can be a tasty alternative if you may be tired from years of eating peanut butter. Again, it takes only 20 simple minutes to make. Pop some whole grain bread into the toaster and spread on smooth, rich, and extremely healthy almond butter
