Dixie Highway: Keep adding more lanes or change your travel habits?

Dixie Highway, also know as Dixie "Die-way" or US 31W, is a six-lane, two-way highway that is already over capacity. Growth and travel on and around Dixie Highway have been underestimated by local and state governments for many years. A major concern should now be the travel habits of the public on Dixie Highway. There are only so many lanes that can be added and so many times that the traffic signals can be retimed. So, is it possible to change the driving habits of the public?

Dixie Highway is not a major shopping area of the city. It is mainly a route that is used travel to and from home and work. Travellers do not have many other choices in this area, but there are a few. Try using Cane Run, Manslick, or New Cut and the connecting roads to get to your destination. If you are travelling south of I-265 (Gene Snyder) or a few miles to the north of it, try using I-65 South and I-265 West to make your trip for one day. Use Google Maps or MapQuest to try a different way for one day and you may find it to be a faster trip.

Those who choose to use Dixie Highway all the time and do not try another route have no right to complain about the delay being caused.
