This weekend will mark the highly anticipated 6th Annual Dodgeball Tournament, hosted by the Dixie Derby Girls. 22 teams have pre-registered for the tournament, with more expected to register at the event. Due to a cancellation at the previously announced venue, the tournament will be held outdoors at the Dublin Park Tennis Center (8324 Madison Pike, Madison, AL 35758) on March 26th. In the event of a rain-out, the event will be held April 2nd. DDG Dodgeball has been one of the most popular Dixie Derby Girls events six years running, and is open to the public for a $5 admission. Food and drink are available for purchase, and half-time entertainment is provided.
Its not too late to pre-register a team for the event. Interested players ages 19 and older are invited to compete in the tournament play. Registration is $40 per team of up to 6 players, and $5 per additional player (maximum 10 per team). Uniforms are not required, but teams are asked to wear clothing of the same color or theme for ease of identification. Check-in on the day of the tournament will be held from 9:00 -10:00AM, with a captain's meeting at 10:30AM and tournament play beginning promptly at 11:00AM. Teams not checked-in by 10:00AM will be subject to disqualification and will be replaced by an alternate team.
Game play governance will be based on a Dixie Derby modified rules set from the National Dodgeball Association. Review the Official Dixie Derby Girls Dodgeball Tournament rules.
The Memphis based Dodgeball Ninja Commando Team (DNCT) would go undefeated to dominate the 2010 Dixie Derby Girls Championship in an exciting final match against the Happy Hour Heros, whose only losses in the tournament both came by the hands of the DNCT team. The Gadianton Robbers would finish third, and the Blue Ball Dodgers, E.A.D. and Cream Puffs would round out the top finishers. Check out the complete 2010 results.
The Dixie Derby Girls will also take the Dodgeball floor when they seek to avenge last year's loss against the referees in the Skater vs. Zebra feature match-up. This action-packed game will mix Dodgeball and Roller Derby, as all participants will play ON SKATES, adding to the mayhem and chaos.
After the last ball is flung, the Dixie Derby Girls have arranged a spectacular after-party at the End Zone (1909 University Drive Northwest, 35816) immediately following the championship match. The End Zone will be having DDG Dodgeball specials on select draft beers, cheeseburgers & pizzas for all DDG Dodgeball fans, friends, and competitors.
