Dixie Chick goes solo: Natalie Maines starts own career (Photos)

Country fans love the Dixie Chicks, but they haven't been around making new music for a while. On March 14, USA Today reported that Natalie Maines is going single and making a go of it on her own in the music business.

She took the stage on Wednesday at South By Southwest. This was one of her first times out as a singer by herself. You might remember her, but if you don't check out the pictures in the slideshow to see which one she is from the Dixie Chicks.

One review says that she doesn't have the spunk she used to have as the lead singer for the group. Natalie had a very short new haircut for the gig and performed alone without her background singers from the group. Emily Robinson who was in the group with her did help write one song that she sang while on the stage.
