Divorce gets messy for Johnny Weir and Victor Voronov

No divorce is ever easy. This holds true for the same-sex couple, Johnny Weir and his husband, Victor Voronov. Radar Online, March 24, 2014, reports that the couple will be back in a New Jersey court on Wednesday.

On that day, Victor plans to file his response to the divorce. He wants to clear his name in the alleged domestic violence dispute and he may be asking for spousal support.

Victor’s legal coach and public relations crisis manager, Wendy Feldman told Radar Online, “Victor has the truth on his side.”

Johnny and Victor were married on New Year’s Eve, 2011. They did not have a prenuptial agreement before their marriage.

Johnny is a professional skater, fashion designer and a competitor on Rachael vs. Guy on the Food Network channel in 2013. This year, NBC asked him to be a commentator in Sochi, Russia in the 2014 Winter Olympics. To date, he is filming for the upcoming Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice. Johnny supported the couple and paid all the bills.

Victor is a law graduate, but left his job when he married Johnny. He has not addressed the public with a statement since the divorce proceedings.

Earlier this month, Victor filed charges against Johnny for domestic abuse. Johnny explains that Victor was in a temper and drinking heavily. Later that night, Victor allegedly wanted intimacy, but Johnny refused. Victor accused Johnny of biting him as he showed police the proof on his body. When the case went to court, Victor asked the judge to dismiss the case. The judge granted his request. Johnny alleges that most of the time he was the one on the receiving end of the domestic abuse and he has witnesses.

Another incident involved the defacing of an expensive bag. Victor apparently wrote “F*** you” across one of Johnny’s Birkin bags. Johnny emailed Victor, “If you decide to wreck things, please wreck cheaper things than Birkins. The F*** you on the Birkin is kina cool though, you artist. I know you don’t care about Hill I’ll survive if you divorce me, but please leave my Birkin bags, Celine bags and Chanel bags alone."

With all that happening, it should have been no surprise when Johnny tweeted last week, “It is with great sadness that I announce that my husband and I are no longer together.”

Wendy said, It is our extreme hope and desire,” she added, “that this divorce could have been handled amicably — not only is Victor heartbroken, but he is now humiliated.”
