Authorities in Dayton, Ohio are crediting a pocket Bible for saving an RTA bus driver's life early Monday morning as reported by the Dayton Daily News on February 24, 2014.

Rickey Wagoner, 49, was attacked by three young men when he stepped off his bus to fix a mechanical problem. Wagoner was shot three times, two of the shots were fired at his chest, but the Bible he had in his front shirt pocket stopped the bullets. The other shot fired struck his leg and he was also stabbed in the arm.

Wagoner placed a call to 911 at 5:20 a.m. once the suspects fled the scene.

"I've been hit in the leg, my chest feels like I have been hit with a sledgehammer," Wagoner said to the operator.

Wagoner described the three suspects as African-American males between the ages of 15 - 18. He also told police he thinks the attack was gang related as he heard one of the suspects "if you want to be all the way in the club, you have to kill the polar bear."

Police, family, friends and Wagoner believe this incident was God's divine intervention, as Sgt. Michael Pauley said "there was obviously some kind of intervention involved in this incident, because, he (Wagoner) should probably not be here."

Wagoner's son Rickey Jr. gave an update on his Facebook page Monday afternoon.

"Dad is doing good now and my family and I are just lucky he is still alive."

Do you believe the pocket Bible stopping the bullets was a divine intervention or is Rickey Wagoner just lucky?
