With just a couple more weeks until the big screen adaptation of Divergent by Veronica Roth hits theaters, anticipation for the film is ramping up.
Divergent is being featured in multiple magazines, including the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, the film's stars are touring talk shows, new images are being released like crazy (see them all in the attached slideshow!), and now Hollywood analysts are anticipating the film's box office reception.
According to The Wrap, early tracking for Divergent puts the film at a $50 million or more opening weekend. Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment are banking on Divergent to buck the trend of new YA movie adaptations flopping at the box office.
No doubt, the studios are hoping Divergent will follow the same path as their other blockbusters -- both among the few YA franchise successes, The Twilight Saga and The Hunger Games.
Tickets for Divergent go on sale Tuesday, and the studio is offering fans some enticing incentives to pre-purchase. Anyone who buys advance tickets online will be entered to win a walk-on role in Insurgent, the planned sequel to Divergent. Plus, fans who purchase on March 4th will get a free download of the book.
