In latest “Divergent” movie news, there’s a definite chance that we may see a “Divergent” trailer — or at least sneak peek — of the hotly awaited film at this weekend’s 2013 MTV VMAs. After “Divergent” media sites and its official Facebook page released a “Something BIG is Coming” photo, fans couldn’t help but wonder if that something will be a trailer clip at the Video Music Awards, Hypable reported this Tuesday, Aug. 22.
The photo above is the leaked “Divergent” image, with the MTV VMAs own logo attached, revealing a concrete link between the two. If you look closely enough, both Four and Tris can be seen climbing Chicago’s Ferris wheel, which is awesome in itself.
It seems likely that the “BIG” reveal this weekend will be either the “Divergent” trailer, or at least a short clip of what we fans can expect from the actual film. Yet if we look at a past history from other popular YA Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment films, they have used the widely watched VMAs as a prime time to catch audiences with different trailers, including “Twilight” and “The Hunger Games.”
“Divergent” is already looking to become the next hit franchise for the studio, so it’s possible that the movie team is looking to introduce new fans to the great series, and excite longtime fans of the upcoming film. Shailene Woodley is all but a given in the trailer if it appears, while Theo James is also expected.
The 2013 MTV VMAs will be broadcast live on TV this Sunday at 9 p.m. eastern and pacific time, so be sure to tune in.
What’s more for some older fans — an ‘NSYNC reunion is also rumored to take place that night. Nothing’s been confirmed yet, though.
“Divergent” strikes U.S. theaters this March 20, 2014.
