'Divergent' movie news: Kate Winslet 'confirmed,' Four casting role still open (Photos)

Fans of the confirmed “Divergent” movie can expect a new actress to join the growing cast very soon, as Movie Fanatic reported this Friday, Jan. 25, that Kate Winslet is on the verge of signing a deal to be part of “Divergent’s” upcoming film adaptation. Summit Entertainment recently took to Twitter to post that Winslet had actually signed the deal, but the tweet was later deleted, leaving her role in the casting arena still likely but undecided. The part of male lead Four in the film also remains open at this point and time.

Summit Entertainment’s Twitter wrote on Friday morning that it was “official” that Kate Winslet had been confirmed for “Divergent,” but later deleted the big tweet.

“It’s official! Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet has just signed on for the anticipated film adaptation of #Divergent!”

Sources still report that the “Titanic” star is still interested in the film and close to making a deal, so it’s possible that the messenger at Summit Entertainment let loose the Twitter “Divergent” movie news too early, or Kate Winslet simply hasn’t completed her agreement yet. Winslet’s role in the cast and who she may play in the film adaptation, however, is still an unknown at this point.

In other “Divergent” movie news, the casting of Four is also a mystery. Shailene Woodley (who will be playing Tris) did tell fans last week that she’s looking for a “real man … with chemistry” for the role, and that she has “two favorites” in mind so far. The casting seems to be currently down to actors Alex Pettyfer, Lucas Till, and Jeremy Irvine, all who have auditioned for the big part.

What role do you think Kate Winslet might play in “Divergent,” and who do you see cast as Four among the top three choices at the moment?
