'Divergent' finds a few cast members

The adaptation of the young adult novel “Divergent” hasn't seen much movement lately, but Heat Vision reported some major casting news yesterday.

Neil Burger (“Limitless”) will be directing Shailene Woodley (“The Amazing Spider-Man 2”) as a 16-year old girl named Tris living in a world where society is divided into five factions that represent a particular virtue: Honesty, Selflessness, Bravery, Peacefulness, and Intelligence. On a certain day, all 16-year-olds must choose which virtue they want to devote the rest of their life to, after which they undergo a rigorous initiation process for said virtue.

Ansel Elgort (“Carrie”) will be playing the role of Caleb, the twin brother of Woodley’s character who turns his back on his family’s clan to join another.

Maggie Q (“Priest”) will play Tori, the owner of a tattoo parlor who is part of the choosing ceremony that divides people into factions.

Zoe Kravitz (“X-Men: First Class”) rounds out the casting news as Christina, another girl who befriends Tris.

Kate Winslet was rumored to be in negotiations for a role, but it’s possible they broke down since she is no longer mentioned.

Between “The Host,” “Fifty Shades of Grey” and this film, young women are sure to have plenty to see in theaters for years to come.
