'Divergent' book and movie news (Photos)

Veronica Roth’s best-selling book, Divergent, is being made into a movie. It is expected to be released just over a year from now on March 21, 2014. The third and final book in the series will be released on October 22, 2013. The book is not yet titled.

The movie is still in the casting phase, the only definite actor is Academy Award nominee Shailene Woodley will star as the protagonist, Tris. There is a great deal of talk about the casting for the role of Four. Current rumors focus on Alex Pettyfer, Lucas Till and Jeremy Irvine. Woodley talked about the need to have the right chemistry with her male counterpart in a recent MTV interview. She stated, “"The thing about Four is that he has to be a man. No feminine actors, please," she said. "You cannot walk in that room in pretty little boots and pretend you're a man. I'm sorry. You need to walk in there, and you need to not have muscles that look good and not actually work. There have been a few guys that have this power about them. It's a natural masculine power that some people have and some people don't. There's nothing good or bad or wrong or right about it. This character needs to be extremely masculine, and his eyes need to scream vulnerability and sensitivity. It's really hard to find in a dude, especially a dude who can act." The movie is scheduled to begin filming in April in Chicago, IL.

Veronica Roth will be appearing at BEA in New York this year. She’ll be part of the Young Adult breakfast panel on Friday, May 31, 2013 and will be appearing alongside Octavia Spencer and Rick Riordan.
