Andy Walmsley's third in a series of Showbiz Roasts took place late Friday night at the Stratosphere Showroom. In the hot seat was Las Vegas legend, female impersonator, and star of Divas Las Vegas, Frank Marino.
Roast-master for the show was comedy hypnotist Marc Savard whose quick wit, funny one liners and comic timing and delivery was superb. He led the lineup of roasters that included local entertainers and celebrities; journalist Robin Leach, Mark Shunock star of Rock of Ages, comedian and Plaza headliner Louie Anderson, comedienne Shayma Tash, Frankie Scinta of The Scintas, Tropicana headliner comedy magician Murray Sawchuck, singer/actress Pia Zadora and Marcus Deegan host of Thunder From Down Under.
It was an unforgettable evening of hilarious barbs, pokes and jabs at the legendary performer as well as performances by; singer Skye Dee Miles; Jersey Boys Jeff Leibow, Deven May, Travis Cloer, Rob Marnell, and Graham Fenton; Derrick Barry of Divas Las Vegas; Absinthe's Melody Sweets; The Divas 'Girls' and dancers with back up music by The Lon Bronson Band with choreography by Nick Foote and special appearances by John Katsilometes; Brian Thomas; and Mateo Amieva from Criss Angel's 'Believe'.
The pre-show in the lobby included entertainment by Bella Strings; James C. Mulligan, Adam Flowers, Will Roberts, Jasmine Valencia, Scott Land, and Daryl Wagner.
The event, which was by invite only, helped raise money for Frank Marino's chosen charity, the Make-A-Wish foundation. There was a box on each table for the guests to leave donations.
In addition to several celebrities including Robin Leach, and John Katsilometes who were a sight to behold all decked out in drag, guests were encouraged to dress as the opposite sex in honor of the roastee. A prize, valued at $1000, was awarded to Burt Davis for the most flamboyant costume of the night.
