Distrikt Hotel, a hotel inspired by New York's iconic neighborhoods, opens today in Midtown Manhattan.
Originally set to open in November 2009, the launch was delayed because crews had to tackle the final touches. The result is modern elegance. Distrikt Hotel highlights areas from the Southern end of the island to the tip. Each floor showcases a different neighborhood. Love shopping mecca Soho? Stay on the 12th floor. The artsy Chelsea more your style? Then the 20th floor is for you. Transport yourself to your locale of choice via the subway-themed elevator. Admire the back-lit cityscape collages on each floor.
While the hotel is smaller than many others in the area, it makes up for it in ambience and vistas. Just steps from Times Square, visitors will love the breathtaking views of the Hudson River from the top floors of the 155-room boutique, 32-story hotel. After a day wandering the city, relax on Frette linens as you enjoy a show on the flatscreen TV.
In honor of its grand opening, the hotel is offering rooms for as little as $99 a night for a limited time.
