Things appear to have spiraled tragically out of hand in one Walled Lake, Mich., neighborhood after two men engaged in a dispute over a loose dog, and one of the men was shot dead, reported Wednesday's Detroit Free Press.
The angry encounter took place on Tuesday night between two neighbors who allegedly exchanged heated words over a 28-year-old former-Marine's loose dog.
According to investigators, the victim, 45-year-old Edwin Criswell, confronted the 28-year-old neighbor about the dog who had gotten loose and allegedly entered his yard.
Exactly what transpired following the initial exchange of words, and why things turned deadly, is yet to be determined.
Stunned neighbors interviewed by Detroit News indicated that the suspect's dogs, described as beagles and bloodhounds, occasionally would escape from their yard, and there are known reports to animal control about the loose dogs; why things turned deadly on this particular occasion remains unknown.
The suspect was arrested and taken to Wixom jail.
