Today, tickets for Mickey’s Halloween Party, Disneyland Resort’s family-friendly celebration of the holiday went on sale to the general public. This year, Mickey’s Halloween Party will be held after-hours at the Disneyland theme park, which marks several changes to the event.
Mickey’s Halloween Party highlights
During the event, guests can trick-or-treat at several locations around the park, and both children and adults may wear costumes to get into the mood. Most of the park’s popular attractions will be open, and many favorite attractions that will also be decorated to reflect the “spirits” of the Halloween season.
On Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy, for instance, ghosts riders fly through the galaxy night skies and attempt to snatch guests from their seats. The Haunted Mansion Holiday, available from September through the Christmas holiday, is overlaid with elements from Tim Burton’s “A Nightmare Before Christmas.” (See embedded videos for more information on these attractions.)
Note: the seasonal Halloween decor is part of Halloween Time at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. The after-hours party, however, is the only time in which Halloween Screams, the holiday fireworks show, will be presented.

Guests who attend the party will also be able to see Halloween Screams, the 13-minute themed fireworks show. The nighttime spectacular is based on the Disney villains, including characters from “Nightmare” and their music.

Disney’s 2010 Halloween Party undergoes changes
Mickey’s Halloween Party, which was formerly known as Mickey’s Trick-or-Treat Party and held at Disney California Adventure (DCA), marks some significant changes to Disneyland’s Halloween festivities in addition to the move to the Disneyland theme park.
Of note to guests who are planning to attend Mickey’s Halloween Party is the increase in prices for the event. Sarah Tully, writing for the Around Disney blog of The Orange County Register, notes that prices for Disney's Halloween party have more than doubled since the hard-ticket event began in 2005.
“As the popularity of Mickey’s Halloween Party has grown over the years, so have our offerings,” said Betsy Sanchez, a Disneyland Resort spokesperson.
Those changes include allowing guests earlier entry into Disneyland, for park touring prior to the start of the Halloween event; guests who attend the event can enter Disneyland beginning at 3 p.m. for Tuesday events and 4 p.m. for Friday events. Disney has also increased the number of trick-or-treat stations, dance parties, and character meet-and-greet opportunities.
Another significant change affects guests who do not plan on attending Mickey’s Halloween Party but wish to celebrate Halloween Disneyland. Halloween Screams, which debuted last year to all guests, will only be shown as part of the event. Guests who want to see Halloween Screams, then, must purchase tickets to Mickey’s Halloween party.
Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort
For Disneyland Resort guests who do not choose to attend Mickey’s Halloween Party, the theme parks offer the seasonal Halloween Time celebrations. Highlights include attractions decked out to reflect Halloween themes, a Pumpkin Festival at Disneyland’s Main Street, characters in costumes, activities at Big Thunder Ranch, a supernatural event at DCA’s Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and themed food and merchandise.
As with Mickey’s Halloween Party, Halloween Time is a family-friendly seasonal event, with fun spooks and few scares. Halloween Time begins Sept. 17, 2010 and runs through Halloween weekend.
