Disneyland's Half Marathon Weekend

It is time to take a deep breath, look towards a goal and starting running! From August 29th through August 31st, Disney will be hosting the huge Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend. Everyone is invited to take part in the variety of events and even those who are not actively participating this weekend can cheer the participants on! This is a popular event as according to Karla Bruning of the website runkarlarun's article Disneyland Half Marathon 2014 Registration Opens "Last year, 15,872 runners finished the Disneyland Half Marathon and another 7,839 finished the Disneyland 10k." With a large amount of contributors registered for this occasion there is sure to be a lot of excitement, fun and activity at the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend.

Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend Welcome Event featuring Runner's World

Thursday 5:30am-7:0oam

At Disney California Adventure's Paradise Pier, the Half Marathon Weekend starts off with a Welcoming Event. Popular Runner's World experts will attend this event and there will be a Question and Answer Session for attendants. This is sure to get everyone's hearts pumping!

Disneyland Family Fun Run 5k

Friday 5:30am

Located in the Downtown Disney District, this is the first event of the Half Marathon Weekend. This 5k race course will feature Disney characters and entertainment and everyone is expected to participate!

Disneyland 10k

Saturday 5:30am

This event takes place at the Disneyland Resort and is sure to be a magical feat! This Marathon will take runners through Disneyland Resort and Anaheim. According to the Disney website, "The Disneyland 10k starts on the streets of Anaheim, passing through the Grand Plaza in the Anaheim Convention Center before entering Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park." The Disneyland 10k will continue into Disneyland's Main Street and through Downtown Disney District before a splendid finish at the Disneyland Hotel.

runDisney Kids Races

Saturday 9:00am

This event is just for kids! Children, ages 8 and younger can participate in the runDisney Kids Races and come home to be a winner! There are several race courses that are made to fit the different age groups. For instance, children ages 7-8 can participate in the 400m dash, kids from the range of 4-6 can be a part of the 200m dash, toddlers 1-3 can join in the 100m event. There is even a Diaper Dash for ages 12 months and under! These lucky children will receive their own runDisney Kids medal!

Pasta in the Park Party

Saturday 6:00pm-7:30pm

This event will have a delicious dinner and dessert buffet just for party guests. Located at Disneyland's Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree and will have rich pasta dishes (remember to have some carbs for the big event the next day!) and amazing confections. There will also be a live D.J and entertainment. Disney characters will be available for pictures.

Disneyland Half Marathon

Sunday 5:30am

This is the big event! The Marathon that many have been training for and are going to participate in this occasion that will test endurance levels. This challenging 13.1 mile run will take participants through Disney California Adventure, Disneyland Resorts and Anaheim. There will be Disney characters and entertainment as well as a family reunion area.

runDisney Health and Fitness Expo

Thursday 12:00pm-8:00pm

Friday 9:00am-8:00pm

Saturday 9:00am-4:00pm

The runDisney Health and Fitness Expo is where guests can check out the latest in fitness apparel, gadgets and nutritional products. There will also be a special session that features celebrity runners and seminars on running, training and more! Remember that all runners must go to the runDisney Health and Fitness Expo, all participants must attend to pick up their race number, shirt and gEAR bag pick up.

Presentations that will include "Runner's World Strategy Session" and "Even Dumbo Needed a Coach" with Jeff Galloway, official runDisney Training Consultant. He is an inspirational speaker and has worked with many. According to Jeff Galloway's "Jeff has worked with over 200,000 average people in training for specific goals and is the inventor of the Galloway Run Walk Run method." This method has helped many! He is also a monthly columnist for Runner's World magazine and the author of Galloway's Book on Running.

In addition, there will be a presentation "I've been ready for this my whole life!" with Sean Astin. This actor has performed in films such as Ruby, Click and the Lord of the Rings series. According to the runDisney website, "Sean will also share his motivation for running and leading a healthy active lifestyle while at the same time balancing family and work."

Dumbo Double Dare

Saturday, August 30th and Sunday, August 31st

For those who are determined and active, the Dumbo Double Dare is the perfect fit! Runners will have to participate in both the Disneyland 10k on Saturday and the Disneyland Half Marathon on Sunday for a combined 19.3 miles of fun and endurance! Participants will receive the medals for the two running events as well as the Dumbo Double Dare medal.

Runners, joggers and walkers will receive items such as a Champion shirt, various medals and an iGiftbag. For those who choose to be a part of the Dumbo Double Dare there will be not only the earned medals, but also a ChronoTrack B-tag timed race with live runner tracking sign-up.
