Jimmy Grabow once again took the top spot at this year’s Disneyland Half Marathon. It was the second year in a row Grabow has won the runDisneyy race, which was held early in the morning of Sunday, Sept 1.
28-year-old Grabow, from Running Springs, Calif., finished in 1:07:41. His time wasn’t quite fast enough to beat his 2012 winning time, the record-setting 1:05:29. But it was fast enough to best the field of the 17,500 registered runners for the 2013 Disneyland Half Marathon, and Grabow finished well in front of the other top finishers.
Ricardo Ramierez, 41, of Sun Valley, Calif., finished second in the men’s division with a time of 1:14:30. 25-year-old Todd Nickerson of Albuquerque, N.M., took third with a finish of 1:16:06.
Stephanie Dinius finished first in the Disneyland Half Marathon's women's division, with a time of 1:15:47. The 20-year-old from Palo Alto, Calif. finished ahead of last year's winner, Cindy Lynch, 42, of San Diego, who took second with a finish of 1:25:29. In third place was 14-year-old Sydney Tullai of Chino Hills, Calif.
Correction: When first published, this article inaccurately reported Dinius set a new women's record for the Disneyland Half Marathon. Rachel Booth, who has won four runDisney titles, still holds the record for her 2010 finish of 1:15:20.

For some 5,000 runners (officially), the Disneyland Half Marathon was preceded by Saturday’s inaugural Disneyland 10K. That race was the first leg of the inaugural Dumbo Double Dare, where registered runners complete both the shorter race and the Disneyland Half Marathon in order to earn a bonus third medal and extra bragging rights.
This year’s half marathon, and the Dumbo Double Dare, included some celebrities who regular attend the runDisney race circuit to promote healthy living: Alison Sweeney ("The Biggest Loser"), Sean Astin (“The Goonies,” “Rudy,” “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy), Joey Fatone (*NSYNC) and Ali Vincent ("Live Big"). The four were on hand for the runDisney pre-race meet-up on Friday.
While Grabow and Dinius were the champions of their respective divisions, for most runDisney participants it was a race against the clock – and the heat. The hot and humid conditions for this year’s Disneyland Half Marathon made the race even more challenging for most runners. The same was true for yesterday’s races, including the Disneyland 10K, the Disneyland Family Fun Run 5K, and Kids Races.
As with previous years, the Disneyland Half Marathon 2013 course took its athletes on a cover that includes Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, Angel Stadium and the streets of Anaheim. The course also features signature elements of a runDisney event: Disney characters, music and live entertainment, as well as enthusiastic spectators and ChEAR squads.
The Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend marks the start of the runDisney race season and is one of a series of runDisney race weekends. For more coverage on Disney races, see this article: Running and walking Walt Disney World and Disneyland: 2013 – 2014 race schedule.
