On July 19, Walt Disney World Resort released information on its Fourth of July celebrations. The theme parks will celebrate Independence Day in the theme parks on July 3- 4. And what’s a bigger, more classic celebration than fireworks and patriotic American music? For the Fourth of July holiday, Walt Disney World (WDW) adds such touches to its nighttime spectaculars and live entertainment in three of its theme parks, excepting Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Disney’s Fourth of July holiday plans allow Magic Kingdom to show off its red, white and true-blue colors for its fireworks spectacular. ”Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” offers a 14-minute, 360-degree celebration of the American holiday with Cinderella Castle as the centerpiece. “Disney’s Celebrate America” takes place Thursday and Friday night at 9 p.m.

WDW guests may also wish to catch Magic Kingdom’s flag retreat, which will take place at 5 p.m. The ceremony takes place every day, but is particular moving on Independence Day.

At Epcot, the American Adventure is the natural focus for July 4. WDW guests will have the chance to meet Disney characters in patriotic garb outside the pavilion. Or they can see the Spirit of America Fife and Drum Corp, who perform at 1, 2:15, 3:30, 4 and 4:45 p.m. The Voices of Liberty will perform throughout the day. Look for the a capella group at the America Gardens Theatre at 12:30, 1:45, and 3 p.m., and inside The American Adventure Rotunda at 4:15 and 5 p.m.

Also, Epcot’s Sounds Like Summer concert series on July 4, featuring Don’t Look Back ~ Boston Tribute Band, will have expanded performance times. Don’t Look Back performs at the American Gardens Theater at 5:15, 6:30, 7:45 and 9 p.m. on the Fourth of July holiday.

As always, Epcot’s evening concludes its nighttime pyrotechnics, music and lights spectacular, “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.” IllumiNations will be held at 10 p.m. and, in its own tribute to Independence Day, offer the 5-minute grand finale “Heartbeat of Freedom” in a salute to America.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios (DHS) offers its own take on the park’s fireworks celebration, with a high-energy “Rockin’ 4th of July Celebration.” DHS makes a night of it on July 4. A DJ gets the party started at the Sorcerer Hat at 6 pm. At 7, 8, 9 and 10 p.m., DHS favorite landscaping band Mulch, Sweat & Shears will offers its own look at American music, what Disney calls a “musical road trip,” at 7, 8, 9 and 10 p.m. The live entertainment opens for the main event, a rock ‘n roll fireworks presentation at 10:15 p.m.
