For many guests who visit Walt Disney World during the holiday seasons, one of the annual traditions for celebrating Christmas at the resort is the Candlelight Processional that takes place at Epcot theme park.
The Epcot Candlelight Processional offers a reading of The Christmas Story, a recounting of the birth of the Jesus Christ in Bethlehem, by a celebrity narrator. A mass choir and a 50-piece live orchestra who perform holiday music accompany the celebrity narrator’s reading.
The processional, free with Epcot theme-park admission, takes place three times nightly during the Walt Disney World holiday period. In 2013, Epcot Candlelight Processional takes place Nov. 29- Dec. 30 at American Gardens Theatre in World Showcase. There are three performances each night at 5:00, 6:45 and 8:15 p.m. (There is one exception. On Dec. 8 the processional will take place twice, at 6:45 and 8:15 p.m.)

Epcot Candlelight Processional is very popular, and spots in the American Gardens Theater can fill up quickly. One option for Disney guests who wish to guarantee seating for a performance is to book a Candlelight Dining Package. The package combines lunch or dinner at select Epcot restaurants with guaranteed seating for the Candlelight Processional and VIP viewing of “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.”
As Candlelight Dining Packages are also very popular, Advance Dining Reservations are highly recommended. The packages do not include theme-park admission.
The Epcot Candlelight Processional is one of the holiday highlights for the theme park, which offers a seasonal celebration called “Holidays Around the World.” These festivities provide guests with a look at different Christmas traditions from around the globe, with a focus on those practiced by the countries represented in Epcot’s World Showcase pavilions. Also part of Epcot’s “Holidays Around the World” are meet and greets with Santa and Mrs. Claus and a seasonal finale for “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth,” Epcot’s nightly laser, light, fireworks show.
