They shut down the ride for a short time but then it was opened back up after because it was discovered that the ride was safe. They obviously don't have concern for anyone else getting hurt on the ride. The details of what happened have not really been released.

This ride does happen in a dark area. They give you safety concerns before the ride and it says, "Sit closer together and keep your ruddy hands inboard. That be the best way to repel boarders. And mark well me words, mateys, dead men tell no tales." Obviously you need to keep your fingers and hands in on any ride. Any ride at an amusement park could be dangerous if you stick your hands out. There is no reason that you should even consider putting your hands outside of the ride.

It sounds like the man could have possibly done something that caused him to lose his fingers. Right now Disney World is not speaking out about what happened to him. Everyone wants to know what is going on though and they are concerned if the same thing could happen to them. It is best to remember to keep your hands inside rides at all times. It is not worth taking a chance of getting hurt somehow.

If you are heading to Disney World, simply make sure you kids know how to be safe. Keep your hands inside the rides at all times. Listen to the rules and make sure that you don't end up leaving without any of your fingers.
